Plugins

Plugins are a great way to expand your Wordpress site’s functionality for free or for a nominal fee.  Searching for plugins is very easy!  You can go directly to the Wordpress plugins directory located at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ and locate a plugin you would like to use. Once you find one you can download it to your computer and then upload it to the /wp-content/plugins directory using FTP. There is another way to do it and it’s as follows:

1. go to the plugins menu located on the left menu navigation and click on “Add New”.

2. search for a specific plugin or click on one of the tags available.

3. the system will return with the search result and for each plugin there will be a button “install”.

3. the search will return a list of plugins available. click on the “install” button.

4. click on the install button will download the plugin to the plugins directory. note that you will need to enter your site login details which are the host name, username and password. the rest will be done by wordpress.

5. once the plugin is downloaded it will be in your plugins directory in Deactivate status.

6. click on “activate” and magic! the plugin is ready for your use.
